Strawberry LOVE

Our garden is already producing!! This is our first time planting strawberry plants that lived!!! Just look at our first little strawberry:

Is it not ADORABLE?? =D And all its delicious tastiness was shared 3 ways!!
I've never had fresh from the garden strawberries; there is no comparison! We have 4 plants so hopefully we will see a big harvest.

Have you started your planting yet?

Printing Inspirational Quotes

My Pinterest page has an Inspirational Words board (as I'm sure most do). I loved the thought of often looking through these pins as a source of encouragement and grounding.

That's when I had the idea of printing them off and featuring each one for a time on our family message center. I simply cut some construction paper down to size (cardstock would be even nicer!) and printed some options...

The first I chose was this:

Simple, but a nice reminder!

The Beginning of our Garden

The garden plot has been tilled.

The plants and seeds have been bought.

Efforts have been made to enrich the soil.

A harvest is coming.

But first, time, energy, resources, and love must be put into the plot.

And soon...we will reap the benefits.

Welcome back, Spring...We have missed you!

"The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."
Isaiah 58:11

Fabric Remnant Pillow - $2

Whilst shopping the other day at the glorious store that is Hobby Lobby, I found this adorable fabric remnant for a couple bucks...I liked the feel of the material and decided to pick it up to try to make a pillow for baby R. I don't own a sewing machine (and wouldn't know how to work it if I did...) so I hand stitch anything I want to sew. Since it always seems to add some charm I usually don't mind, though. =)

I started by folding the fabric inside out and started a simple stitch...

And here is how it looked after sewing up one side...

I have since sewn the long side and in keeping with the thrifty theme, I am planning on gathering old t-shirts to stuff the pillow with. I would rather use something unwanted than to waste them or spend money on cotton filling. I will have to update you on how it turns out! Until then...

Tend the field you've been given. ;)

Spring Planning

Wow. It has been 2 months since last we met! Well, let me jump right in and say that I am happily turning over Spring thoughts in my head. Spring is such a beautiful time of year. I can appreciate all seasons, but Spring is so special to me. It feels so fresh and welcome by the time Winter is coming to an end! We have all the hope of a beautiful, bountiful garden without the realities of droughts, cracked tomatoes, and potato beetles. :)

I am hoping that I won't be too incredibly miserable in a couple of months when my gardening season starts. I am due in July, so hopefully with the help of the kiddos and my husband we can make this year successful, too.

Things to Plant:

Beans
Flowers
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Potatoes
Onions

Maybe to plant:

Watermelon
Squash
Herbs
Fruit trees

What do you have planned for your Spring garden this year?

I wish you well! And may my compost provide yummy nutrients for my soil! That is my gardening prayer! =)
